EARLY LIFE
Jeon Yeo-been was born on the 26th of July 1989 in Gangneung, Gangwon-do, South Korea. She studied Broadcast Entertainment at the Dongduk Women’s University. Although acting was not her first choice of career, it was a fellow actress, director and screen writer who spotted her one day in the short film The Best Director in 2015. Their communication went on and served to be Yeo-been’s entry to showbusiness.
FILM WORKS
Yeo-been first made her debut in the period drama The Treacherous in 2015, playing only a supporting role. She continued appearing in different movies throughout the years such as The Age of Shadows and Beaten Black and Blue in 2016, White or Dance, The Running Actress and Merry Christmas Mr. Mo in 2017, Illang: The Wolf Brigade and After My Death in 2018.
She became increasingly recognized throughout her career as she does more movies. From supporting roles, she slowly transitioned herself to main role materials in films such as Forbidden Dream in 2019 and Secret Zoo in 2020.
TELEVISION
Her first television drama series is the Save Me in 2017, which was based on the popular web comics called Out of the World. She worked with Ok Taec-yeon. Seo Ye-Ji, Jo Sung Ha and Woo Do Hwan. The year after, she made a special appearance in the television series Live, as Yeong Jae.
In 2019, she starred alongside Chum Woo Hee, Jan Ji Eun, Ahn Jae Hong and Gong Myung in the romantic comedy television series Be Melodramatic which aired in the cable network JTBC.
AWARDS
Although considered fairly new in the world of entertainment, Yeo-been had already amassed numerous awards to her name. Her first nominated work, and her most awarded performance to date, was the film After my Death, which she won the Seoul Independent Film Festival’s Independent Star Award and 22nd Busan International Film Festival’s Actress of the Year.
For the same film, she got the Best New Actress Awards from the 19th Busan Film Critics Awards, 28th Buil Film Awards, 24th Chunsa Film Art Awards, and the 56th Grand Bell Awards. For her performance in the film Write or Dance, she won the Best New Actress from the Marie Claire Film Festival in 2018.
CURRENT PROJECTS
She currently appears as the witty, funny but capable lawyer and CEO of the Jipuragi Law Firm in the hit series Vincenzo. She acts alongside Song Joong Ki, Ok Taecyeon, Kim Yeojin and Kwak Dong Yeon.
Yeo-been also appears in the film Night in Paradise as Jae-yeon. Although the film already had its world wide premiere last September 2020 at the 77th Venice International Film Festival, the film is set to be released in Netflix this April 9, 2021.
