AS A FAN of all things television, I have vied for and supported talented individuals prior to the start of their career. Among these talented individuals is Khalil Ramos.
Although I am saddened by the fact that he did not win the grand prize at the Pilipinas Got Talent, fate works in mysterious ways. He showcased his hidden talents in acting and performing and paved his own road to success.
Many years later, he is still among the most promising actors of his generation. Slowly blooming into mature roles that showcases his acting depth and versatility, Khalil sure is not yet done outdoing his self. In this article, here are some of the things you may not know about Khalil Ramos.
EARLY LIFE
Khalil was born as Khalil Joseph Nepomuceno Ramos on January 22, 1996 in Paranaque, Philippines to Filipino entrepreneur parents – Lito Ramos and Tessa Nepomuceno.
It was his father who inspired him to pursue a musical career when he was young. At first, he idolized the legends such as Michael Jackson and John Lennon. As he matured, his musical inspiration included Queen, Aerosmith and The Beatles.
CAREER BEGINNINGS
Khalil started his entertainment career when he joined the reality talent show Pilipinas Got Talent in 2011. Although he was not proclaimed the grand champion, Khalil placed second. This launched his career as a singer and a recording artist.
Right after his stint at the Pilipinas Got Talent, he was casted in his first television series in the drama romance serye Princess and I which starred Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla. In the following years, he landed supporting roles and played minor characters in films such as Everything About Her, A Second Chance and She’s Dating The Gangster.
BREAKTHROUGH
Khalil finally got his big break in 2016 when he landed the role of Felix Salonga in the film 2Cool 2 Be 4gotten. The film which was written by Jason Paul Laxamana and Petersen Vargas, was about the coming of age journey of Felix as he met two brothers, played by Ethan Salvador and Jameson Blake.
Because of the film, he rose to prominence which led him to landing more roles. After 2Cool 2 Be 4gotten, he was a regular member of the romantic family drama A Love To Last, where he worked with Bea Alonzo and Ian Veneracion. After the project, he landed a supporting role in the prime time blockbuster fantasy drama series La Luna Sangre.
Some of his recent films include Dead Kids for Netflix and LSS, where he was paired with real-life girlfriend Gabbi Garcia.
MUSIC
Khalil’s first love is really music and singing. His first and only album as of to date is in 2012, a self-titled album under the Star Records. He also loaned his voice in interpreting the tracks for Princess and I. He interpreted the singles “Kung Ako Ba Siya”, “Now We’re Together” and “Gusto Kita” (together with Daniel Padilla and Enrique Gil).
RECENT PROJECTS
Khalil appeared in the drama romance series Make It With You, playing the supporting role of Stephen “Sputnik” Perez. In this project, he worked with the real and reel love tandem Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano.
Now that he is with GMA Network, Khalil is a regular performer in the television variety show All Out Sundays hosted by Alden Richards and Julie Anne San Jose.
Khalil is also set to appear with real-and-reel girlfriend Gabbi Garcia in ‘Love You Stranger’ next year. As we wait for that special show, we will see them first in an episode for Regal Studio Presents.
Which among these things actually surprised you? While writing this article, I binge listened on Khalil’s various interpretations of feel good songs in Youtube. I can’t believe that he’s gotten so good! All I can say is throughout these years, I am so right to stan him!
