IT HAS BEEN a personal tradition of mine to watch and support all the entries of the Metro Manila Film Festival every December. I enjoy lining up at the cinemas, ticking off my list and of course, watching the awards night.
This year, one of the underdogs, in my honest opinion is Winwyn Marquez’s film Nelia. The film is produced by Philippine Tinseltown A& Q Productions and I can totally say the Winwyn nails her role as the main protagonist.
I refuse to spoil the film for you, so in the meantime, here are some of the things you may not know about the Winwyn Marquez.
EARLY LIFE
Winwyn was born as Teresita Ssen Lacsamana Marquez on May 4, 1992 in Parañaque City Philippines. She attended San Beda College Alabang where she got her degree in Business Administration Major in Marketing Management. She also has a Teachers Certificate from the Southville International School and Colleges.
She is the daughter of actor-politician Joey Marquez and actress-politician Alma Moreno. She is the half-sister of Mark Anthony Fernandez and Vandolph Quizon. She is also related to the Miss International 1979 Melanie Marquez.
CAREER BEGINNINGS
Unknown to many, Winwyn had already been a constant in the Sunday variety show ASAP since 2004. She has been a performer and host for six years, officially leaving the show in 2010. From 2010 to 2013 she was a performer/host in the variety show Party Pilipinas, at the rival network. She has been in the network since 2010 until the present.
From doing variety shows, she climber her way up the career ladder by accepting various supporting and antagonist roles. Some of her shows as a n actress include Blusang Itim, One True Love, Hiram na Puso, Indio, Dormitoryo, Ang Lihim ni Annasandra, A1 Ko Sa’yo, The Half Sisters, Little Nanay, Encantadia 2016, Mulawin vs. Ravena and Dahil sa Pag-Ibig.
NOTABLE WORKS
Among her notable works is the romantic comedy television series Owe My Love which stars Lovi Poe and Benjamin Alves. Winwyn played the supporting role of Trixie Gibs. The show is streaming online in YouTube and on Netflix.
Another work of Winwyn is the movie Unli Life, where she played the protagonist character Victoria. She worked with Vhong Navarro, as his leading lady in this 2018 film. A year later, she appeared in another Regal Films movie, which is the Time and Again, as Apol, the protagonist paired with the alluring and talented Enzo Pineda.
BEAUTY QUEEN HUSTLE
Winwyn had competed at the Binibining Pilipinas 2015 representing Parañaque City. Although she did not win the crown, she was among the Top 15 finalists. She won the Best National Costume and was proclaimed Miss Talent.
In 2017, Winwyn was a candidate at the Miss World Philippines where she was crowned as the Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas 2017. She also won several awards such as the Miss Savoy Hotel Boracay, Fast Track Talent and Fast Track Beach Beauty (Miss Bench Body) awards. She then represented the country in the Reina Hispanoamericana 2017 in Bolivia. Although she was the first ever representative of the Philippines, she won and even got the Miss Ipanema award.
After all that numerous roles and career path that she walked, Winwyn now enters a new and exciting chapter in her life, perhaps the most challenging yet – being a mother. She has confirmed her first pregnancy with her non showbusiness partner in her YouTube vlog this month. Although she has been on leave from work, she announces that both of the parents to be are over the moon with this news.
To Winwyn, you go girl! We support you in every endeavor in your life! Can’t wait to see the little one soon!
