KUNG BAKIT her directorial assignments come few and far between, it’s because Olive Lamasan chooses which material she truly believes in.
Sa loob ng dalawampung taon na niyang pagdidirek, Star Cinema’s Valentine offering Starting Over Again is only her 11th film. Inang, as she’s referred to by her co-workers, explains that she’s the creative head of ABS-CBN’s film arm.
“But I am given a chance to direct, I do it at least one in every two years,” sabi ng lady director na hindi basta-basta sunggab nang sunggab sa proyekto that comes her way.
But like the lead stars of Starting Over Again na sina Piolo Pascual at Toni Gonzaga—their first screen tandem ever—Direk Olive couldn’t afford to let the chance go off her hand.
Call it cosmic concurrence. A self-confessed fan of Piolo, noon pa pangarap ni Toni na makatrabaho si Inang Olive at ang actor. Kaya naman when casually told about their screen partnership, it caused Toni some sleepless nights, excited about the idea even if shooting hadn’t begun yet.
Same thing with Piolo na unang nakasama si Toni sa isang softdrink commercial 13 years ago. Kaya naman when Toni moved in to ABS-CBN, he vowed he would be supportive of her career.
Starting Over Again is actually of an oft-used genre: dalawang nilalang na nag-ibigan, nagkahiwalay at muling nagkrus ang landas. So will love ensue again?
But based on the trailer, gusto naming isipin na ang gasgas nang plot na ito ay nabigyan ng fresh attack ni Direk Olive as she did in her past movies that also tackled time-worn tales of romance.
