Mayroon ding mga star who married movie directors. In Hollywood, screen legend Judy Garland married film director Vincente Minnelli. Liza May Minnelli is their daughter. Steven Spielberg married two American actresses. Una niyang pinakasalan si Amy Irving pero naghiwalay sila noong 1989. She is said to have received $100 million from Spielberg after a judge controversially vacated a prenuptial agreement written on a napkin. Their divorce was recorded as the third most expensive celebrity divorce in history. Nakilala naman niya ang kanyang second wife na si Kate Capshaw sa set ng Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. They have seven children. Linda Hamilton’s second husband is James Cameron who directed her in Terminator films. Their two-year marriage produced a daughter Josephine Archer who was born before they got married.
Sa Pilipinas, Direk Laurice Guillen and Johnny Delgado are two of silverscreen’s most respected and talented actors. Their two daughters, Ana and Ina, are following their footsteps in the acting department. The husband and wife tandem of Carlo Caparas and Donna Villa makes a good team in producing movies. Postwar Pinay actress Lilia Dizon and actor/director Gil de Leon have three children Pinky de Leon, Christopher de Leon and Lara Melissa de Leon who all inherited their parents’ acting genes.
But where do you draw the line between professional and love relationship sa isang mag-asawa o magkasintahan na artista at direktor? How do they work kapag kagagaling lang nila sa away o tampuhan? Nakakatawa si Toni Gonzaga habang nagkukuwento tungkol sa shooting ng kanyang indie film na A Journey Home which boyfriend Direk Paul Soriano directs. “Retake nang retake. Perfectionist. Minsan sabi ko, ‘Ano ba ‘yan, okay na kasi yun!’ Natalakan ako! Sabi niya, ‘Pag ibang director ba nagrereklamo ka?’ Sabi ko, ‘Joke lang!’ Sensitive.” Pero proud daw siya dahil natupad na rin sa wakas ni Direk Paul na makapagdirek ng isang pelikula at siya pa ang lead star.
