THERE’S SOMETHING ABOUT ABS-CBN’s Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin that drives me crazy.
Or the refre-shing beauties of Andi Eigenmann and Maja Salvador? O, ang matitipunong katawan nina Tonton Gutierrez at John Estrada? Or is it Gary Valenciano’s version of an Ariel Rivera original ballad?
The choices are boundless. Next to Mara Clara, MLKI is like a bullet deeply imbedded in my flesh that I would not want removed.
Pero isa rin ang kapansin-pansin dito, any discerning viewer would suspect that Lolit Solis is ABS-CBN’s co-producer.
Talk about role switching, not envelope switching, ha?
‘Kaloka, ‘Day!”
Rich or poor, in bejewelled or tattered clothes, mahusay naman si Tonton. To top it all, at least, hindi rebelde si Tonton sa totoong buhay.
SINA ANGELICA PANGANIBAN at Lovi Poe ang tinanghal na Best Actress (for Comedy/Musical and Drama, respectively) in last Saturday’s 8th Golden Screen Awards staged by the Entertainment Press Society, Inc. (EnPress).
Angelica won for Here Comes The Bride (na siya ring ipinanalo ni John Lapus in the Best Actor category for Comedy/Musical), while Lovi bagged her second acting award (after Cinemalaya) for Mayohan. Angelica beat four other nominees including Ai-Ai de las Alas at Eugene Domingo, samantalang tinalo naman ni Lovi Poe ang lima pang nominado kabilang sina Lorna Tolentino at Dawn Zulueta.
Both were present to receive their trophies. Nakakatuwa’t nakakatawa ang parehong acceptance speech nina Angelica at Lovi. The former revealed na noong panahong ginagawa niya ang HCTB ay meron siyang pinagdadaanang “trials, ” hinting at her relationship with Derek Ramsay.
It was Lovi’s turn to go up the stage. In general ang tinuran niyang problemang pinagdaanan din niya the past weeks, although everything knew it had a lot do with her then-boyfriend (yes, balitang split na sila!) former Ilocos Sur Representative Ronald Singson. And Lovi’s cute line: “Sana kahit masama pa ang magdaan uli, makatulong sana ‘yon para makaiyak uli ako (sa pelikula).”
Both Angelica’s and Lovi’s seemingly unrehearsed thank you speeches evoked applause.
Meanwhile, na-bore kami sa eksena ni Kris Aquino who received the trophy on behalf of Sweet. Unlike the ones present na umakyat at tumanggap ng award sa ngalan ng mga nanalo in their absence, Kris was not even part of Sweet’s movie Here Comes The Bride… but here comes a former bride na puwedeng magbida sa sequel ng My Amnesia Girl na may selective amnesia, kung saan pinipili lang niya ang gusto niyang batiin kahit nakita na niya!
