I AM applying as an English teacher in Vietnam. My agency is a licensed one but it came to my knowledge that the job order (JO) is not yet approved by POEA. It’s representative told us that the JO will be approved within a week but after almost two weeks, it’s not yet approved. The agency wants us to submit all our documents and have our medical examination so that they can send them to Vietnam for visa/work permit processing. They are also asking for one month salary placement fee and P15K processing fee.
Do you think this agency can be trusted? How long does it take for an agency to have an approved JO? I’m just wondering why it’s taking a long time to have an approved JO. Shouldn’t it be that an agency should first have an approved JO before they recruit/post any vacancy in their website/www.workabroad.com. How can POEA help us in this kind of situation? — Melba of Pasig City
