HAVING BEEN INTRODUCED only lately to the so-called Facebook, I discovered a new site named Think TV. Nagsisilbing behikulo ito para sa mga opinion at pananaw ng mga taong umiikot sa industriya ng telebisyon, their gripes in particular. Thanks to TV director Rico Gutierrez.
May mga direktor (Joey Reyes at Bibeth Orteza), aktor (Zoren Legaspi at isang baklang TV host-comedian) at iba pang mga manggagawa ang nagpapahayag ng kanilang mga saloobin hinggil sa palsong sistema ng naturang visual medium. May kumukuwestiyon pa sa mga may-ari ng mga istasyon, whose respective backgrounds are not fit to do TV business.
Facebook has become a potent form of social media. Wala itong iniwan sa editorial page ng maraming diyaryo that allots a considerably prominent space for letters to the editor by readers who vent their sentiments on current, controversial issues.
Isa sa mga striking messages sa Think TV ay mula kay Zoren Legaspi. Hindi lang aktor si Zoren, FYI, he also dabbles into directing. Pero sa kanyang latest message, inaalmahan din niya ang mga tao who perpetuate the “rotten system,” not the system per se.
And I perfectly agree.
Pero may tinuran pa si Zoren bilang pasaring sa mga artista-turned-politicians na wala rin naman daw naitutulong para iwasto ang sistema. Short of saying na hindi iniisip ng mga artistang pulitiko ang kapakanan ng industriya.
While Zoren’s observation holds water, this should not be taken as a general impression towards stars-turned-stalwarts in politics. May ganyang sistema dahil pinahihintulutan nating manaig ‘yon.
AS THIS ISSUE comes out, nasa ikaapat na araw nang off-air muna ang Willing Willie after Willie Revillame’s Will Productions and TV5 have voluntarily decided on a two-week break pending their dialogue with the MTRCB, KBP, PANA and other stakeholders.
Sa loob ng dalawang linggong ‘yon, babalangkasin ang mga karapat-dapat na guidelines that will apply to all TV stations as regards to the participation or use of children sa mga talent, game at reality programs. For now, this does not seem to be the immediate focal point – magpapahinga lang ng dalawang linggo, entonces, makakabalik ang programa ni Willie. So timely that upon its return, tamang-tamang kaarawan ni Valenzuela City Councilor Shalani Soledad, Willie’s co-host, and what a blast!
It’s just too bad that a case involving a minor that TV5 thought was insignificant has become, to say the least, a national issue. Marami nang celebrities have voiced out their opinions through Twitter, and these are the very same people that Willie has threatened to sue. Sa kaso ni Tuesday Vargas (na meron naman palang impostor daw), Willie wants her removed from all her TV5 shows.
In a society that professes to be democratic, kelan pa naging paglabag sa batas ang pagpapahayag ng opinion on a certain issue? Gone is the Marcosian reign when freedom of speech was curtailed, and whosoever spoke ill of the dictatorial government was either imprisoned or erased on the face of the earth.
Masyadong mabigat ang tinuran ni Willie sa kanyang farewell appearance on WW, idedemanda raw niya ang lahat ng mga bumabatikos sa kanya. Kung sa isang pinuno ng bansa nagmula ‘yon, such statement could only come from a leader who worshipped tyranny and anarchy!
Having lost his glory noong sinipa siya sa ABS-CBN siya—blame it on his sheer arrogance!—sana’y natuto na si Willie to exercise humility even in the face of adversities.
His fellow celebrities are now ganging up on him, isinasaboses lang naman nila ang kanilang pananaw sa isyu—which is not actually directed to Willie per se—sino si Willie Revillame para busalan ang mga ito, the public included, from speaking up?
